So pleased is Penn State with 81 year old Joe Paterno’s performance that they both agree that the football coach does not require a new contract to continue what he does best at Penn State.

Currently, Paterno’s contract ends at the end of the 2008 season but that does not mark the end to his career with the Nittany Lions. Graham Spanier, the University president was quoted as saying that Paterno’s  seniority is more than enough to convince them that he needs no mere contract to stay on with Penn State. He entered his 43rd season as Penn State’s coach and has brought many victories to the Nittany Lions.

Joe Paterno was quoted as saying that he will be comfortable with whatever decision the University came up with and will continue to be the guiding light for the Nittany Lions.

Police couldn’t find the exact reason for the death but were sure that there wasn’t any kind of foul play in the incident. The athletic Director of UCF, Keith Tribble explained that players did weight lifting and running for about 10 minutes. Plancher who is only 19 years collapsed as everyone was leaving. The UCF trainers present at the site gave him CPR and he was taken to hospital immediately.

Plancher was announced dead by the hospital authorities by noon. An autopsy will be conducted to identify the exact reason of his death. The head coach of the Michigan team, Rich Rodriguez, walked into the spring practice stadium on Saturday wearing his navy cap with an M on the front of the cap. The head coach has been hired from West Virginia and the Michigan fans are hoping that he will do some work on the out of date and predictable offensive tactics of the team. Rodriguez, after the first practice session, said that he felt a bit ugly sometimes and felt a bit motivated and encouraged at other times during the session and the players soon realized the importance of speed with the drills that the coach is trying to instill in them.

Rodriguez has been asking the Michigan boys to bring in a lot of speed in their game and feels that the players have to do a lot to get in shape that are needed for such practice sessions. Rodriguez concentrated on the quarter backs and the running backs of the Wolverines in his early part of the first practice session. He said that quarterback is an important position in the team and hence focus will be given to the quarterbacks in the team. The Oregon State wide receiver and a senior in the team, Sammie Stroughter, has been granted permission to play in the 2008 NCAA football season following a medical hardship grant for 2007, according to the announcement by the Pac-10 conference on Friday. Stroughter was pitted to be the top player by many gurus of the game last season, but could not take up playing during the fall camp due to some personal problems last season. Stroughter did come back after settling all his problems to play for the Oregon state but even this stint was a brief one as he was sidelined with a kidney injury that kept him out of the game for the rest of the season.

Stroughter will have to fight his way all through the spring practice session in order to find the form that he was in during the 2006 season. He had a record of 74 passes caught for 1,293 yards in the 2006 season and had also made 3 touchdowns on punt returns. He is regarded by many greats as a very capable receiving and punt return player and his remarkable 70 yarder against the USC that helped his Oregon State to defeat the Trojans 27 game winning streak is still fresh in the minds of many Oregon fans.
