The head coach of the Michigan team, Rich Rodriguez, walked into the spring practice stadium on Saturday wearing his navy cap with an M on the front of the cap. The head coach has been hired from West Virginia and the Michigan fans are hoping that he will do some work on the out of date and predictable offensive tactics of the team. Rodriguez, after the first practice session, said that he felt a bit ugly sometimes and felt a bit motivated and encouraged at other times during the session and the players soon realized the importance of speed with the drills that the coach is trying to instill in them.

Rodriguez has been asking the Michigan boys to bring in a lot of speed in their game and feels that the players have to do a lot to get in shape that are needed for such practice sessions. Rodriguez concentrated on the quarter backs and the running backs of the Wolverines in his early part of the first practice session. He said that quarterback is an important position in the team and hence focus will be given to the quarterbacks in the team. Rodriguez said that he will not release the names of the starters until a week from the August 30th opener for the Wolverine’s against visiting Utah team.
