The Alabama Crimson Tide has decided to appeal the NCAA’s decision that the team vacate over 20 wins for their football team. The reason for this, as we have discussed before, was that they had used scholarships and free textbooks as perks for their college athletes, which is not allowed in any way. As a result, the team is being asked to vacate those wins. It’s not clear on what basis the team is appealing, but it’s probably something along the lines of it not being fair to punish everyone for the mistakes of just some players and students. The team is hoping that they will be able to let their playing record stand regardless of what the guilty people had done, and it remains to be seen.
