For Coach Joe Daniels, life dealt him a 180 degree turn when he finds that he is now the one who needs all the words of encouragement from his team. The veteran teacher who has been in the coaching business for the past 37 years, including seven productive years with the Ohio State team, is now taking a break to recuperate from cancer. He will take a backseat while the team practices this spring. Previously he has had a bad kidney removed in February as a result of the fast spreading disease.61 year old Daniels is looking his age, perhaps a little bit more as he gives his latest interview surrounded by supportive family members. Understandably, he does not look his best and this can be attributed from the taxing surgery as well as the strong medication he has to take. The latest update is out, and Nick Siciliano has been invited to take over Daniels’ job while he recuperates.
