The Washington Capitals made full use of their first trip to Nashville in four years by beating the home team by 4-2 last Tuesday night and the star player for the Washington Capitals was Alexander Ovechkin who scored a goal and had two assists as well. This was the 58th goal of Alexander in his NHL career and it was an empty netter as well. Matt Bradley, Backstrom and Alexander Semin also chipped in with one goal each during the first period of play and all these players contributed to Capitals’ fourth straight victory this season. It was a memorable night for Alexander Ovechkin, as he earned his 100th point this season and became the only player in the Capitals’ team to get 100 points twice in a season.

Alexander Ovechkin said that he was happy to get the records and that his concentration right now is not on gaining records but on winning the games for his team and thereby gaining two points for the team. Washington team is trailing the eighth placed Philadelphia Flyers by two points in the Eastern Conference and their coach of the Capitals’ says that it is a close race for the eighth position and by the end of Friday there could be 5 to 6 teams vying for that coveted eighth position.
