The Oregon State wide receiver and a senior in the team, Sammie Stroughter, has been granted permission to play in the 2008 NCAA football season following a medical hardship grant for 2007, according to the announcement by the Pac-10 conference on Friday. Stroughter was pitted to be the top player by many gurus of the game last season, but could not take up playing during the fall camp due to some personal problems last season. Stroughter did come back after settling all his problems to play for the Oregon state but even this stint was a brief one as he was sidelined with a kidney injury that kept him out of the game for the rest of the season.

Stroughter will have to fight his way all through the spring practice session in order to find the form that he was in during the 2006 season. He had a record of 74 passes caught for 1,293 yards in the 2006 season and had also made 3 touchdowns on punt returns. He is regarded by many greats as a very capable receiving and punt return player and his remarkable 70 yarder against the USC that helped his Oregon State to defeat the Trojans 27 game winning streak is still fresh in the minds of many Oregon fans.
