No bench for Mallett

Ryan Mallett just transferred from Michigan to Arkansas. He would normally have to sit out a year before he could play on the football team there. Arkansas is trying to get special permission for him to start playing and not have to wait the year. It is definitely going to go through, the paperwork just needs to be filed.

At six feet seven, Mallett was the leader for the Wolverines last season. However, he decided to leave when Coach Lloyd Carr decided to retire from Michigan. He had seven touchdown passes and intercepted five balls.

He has a great arm and great strength behind the arm. His size alone would lead you to think he is a force coming at you. He does need some foot work, but for the most part he can hold the ball under pressure until an opportune moment comes to pass it to another or throw it down field to another receiver. His size lets him shake off most of the guys who would pull him down for a tackle. He is the perfect candidate for Arkansas’ quarterback.

If you can catch him in a game, you should try to see him at least once. He has great timing and an impeccable throw. He can blast them out of the arena if necessary. But he is good in the short as well as long throws.
